Infill Action Letters

We need your voice to ensure that Edmonton’s growth doesn’t come at the cost of our mature neighbourhoods.

We have launched a grassroots lobby campaign to demand better control, oversight, and common-sense regulations regarding local infill development. Our non-partisan group is actively taking our neighborhood concerns straight to the decision-makers, including the Alberta Provincial Government, Shadow Ministers, Federal MPs, Metropolitan MLAs and Mayors, and our own city council.

Rapid density changes are placing immense strain on our infrastructure, public safety, and community character. We cannot afford to stay silent. Please support this vital community initiative by signing our official lobby letters today to show all levels of government that sustainable, responsible development matters to Edmontonians.

AND watch our website for weekly new letters you can sign as we continue to lobby for change, and to save our neighbourhoods.

Join us at our events where you can meet the organizing team, people from other communities, and learn more about our campaign. Please invite your neighbors and friends. And note, paper copies of our letters are available at all events.

About This Campaign

Edmonton Infill in Pictures

logo coalition.jpg

Our journey began in 2022 with the Dunluce Neighbourhood Renewal, when residents came together to protect the character, safety and livability of our community. As other neighbourhoods reached out with similar concerns, we began working together to ensure residents’ voices were heard. Last year, our efforts led to meetings with Minister Dreeshen and Minister Williams.

We have never stopped advocating for our communities. We believe in simple, responsible renewals—not unnecessary road narrowing, bike lanes or multi-use pathways—and thoughtful, carefully planned infill that respects existing neighbourhoods.

Above all, we are a caring group of residents committed to standing up for what is right for our neighbours and our communities.  Follow us on Facebook as we continue our plight “Coalition for Genuine Representation – Edmonton Deserves better.

We have property rights.  Or....do we?

Both the Alberta Bill of Rights and the Canadian Bill of Rights promise us the enjoyment of property, and that we are not to be denied same without due process.

The Supreme Court of Canada defines enjoyment of property as including things such as pure water, pure air, light, personal comfort, value, useability, enjoyment, etc..

With the Edmonton Municipal Zoning Bylaw 20001, we assert that our property rights are being removed, including without due process.

Are you alarmed? Are you ready to take a stand for your fundamental citizen rights?  Join other Edmontonians preparing to launch a Class Action to claim just compensation, and to reclaim our fundamental rights.

YEG.png

YEG Smart Infill is an independent Edmonton community initiative. We believe Edmonton needs to grow — and that how we grow matters. Residential infill brings new housing and vitality to established neighbourhoods.

But infill done poorly — without adequate planning, infrastructure investment, or neighbourhood input — creates lasting problems. We advocate for infill that is thoughtfully designed, predictable for residents, compatible with existing streetscapes, and supported by the infrastructure and services neighbourhoods need.

SaveYEG was formed as Edmontonians from neighbourhoods across the city began experiencing the real-life impacts of sweeping zoning changes and rapid infill development. As a community-led, non-partisan movement, SaveYEG advocates for responsible density. Not unchecked density.

We believe good planning asks good questions. That means balancing housing growth with infrastructure, safety, accessibility, environmental stewardship, and genuine community participation. SaveYEG exists to help residents stay informed, share their experiences, and work toward better planning and stronger accountability as Edmonton grows.
